The ruling on placing the hands on the chest after rising from bowing

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
From Iraq, Baghdad. The listener: Dharrar al-'Aani sent a question saying: I hope you will clarify the legal ruling regarding placing the hands after rising from bowing. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The Sunnah is to place them on the chest, just as before bowing. This is the Sunnah, based on what is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) in the hadith of Wa'il ibn Hujr: "That he (peace and blessings be upon him), when standing in prayer, would place his right hand over his left, his right palm over his left palm, the wrist and the forearm." Abu Dawud and al-Nasa'i, among others, narrated this with a sound chain from Wa'il ibn Hujr.
And in Sahih al-Bukhari—(may Allah have mercy on him)—from Abu Hazm, from Sahl ibn Sa'd, who said—I do not know it except that he traced it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)—he said: "A man was ordered, when in prayer, to place his right hand over his left arm in prayer." This covers both before bowing and after bowing.
So the Sunnah for the believer in prayer, and likewise for the believing woman, is to place the right hand over the left before bowing and after bowing.
As for what occurred in the description of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) prayer by our brother, the distinguished and virtuous scholar, Shaykh Muhammad Nasir al-Din al-Albani, in his statement that placing them after bowing is a religious innovation, this is an error. We have pointed this out more than once, and we have written on the matter what necessitates clarifying this issue. I hope that his eminence will retract this statement, because it is contrary to the truth. And I ask Allah to guide everyone to what pleases Him.

The presenter : O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good, and guide everyone to what is good and righteous.
