The obligation of one who has broken the fast for several Ramadans out of negligence

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The listener (E. B. Y. A.) sent a message saying: In the past, about forty years ago, the material and social conditions were poor, and I am now sixty years old. Ramadan would come, and I would not fast for several reasons, including: a weakness in religious restraint; a lack of knowledge; and my ignorance of all matters of religion. Also, because I was herding sheep in the intense heat of the desert, I was forced to break the fast. This situation continued until I had broken the fast for four months, that is, in four years. So what is my obligation? Do I have to make up the fasts, or is there a repentance for me by virtue of my abandoning that practice, and because I am pleased to inform you that I have gained knowledge of Islamic jurisprudence, and Allah guided me to Islam? Or what is my obligation? And what is the manner of making up the fasts if it is obligatory? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
It is obligatory for you to make up the fasts along with repentance to Allah, regret, and a sincere resolve not to return to that. You must make up the fasts for the four months, and it is not obligatory for you to do so consecutively; you may make them up even if they are scattered. Consecutiveness is not required. You fast and break the fast until you complete them, if Allah wills. Along with that, you must feed a poor person for each day, half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg), which is one and a half kilograms of dates, rice, or wheat for each day, meaning: half a sa' of the staple food of your country, and the amount is one and a half kilograms for each day, provided you are able to do so. If you are poor and unable, then only fasting is required of you; you fast them and seek help from Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) along with repentance to Allah.
And this is the obligation of the Muslim; because Allah says:
and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other daysوَمَنْ كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ
[Surat al-Baqarah: 185] So if the sick person and the traveler make up the fasts, then the negligent person makes them up a fortiori, along with repentance to Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
