Ruling on Giving Zakah to a Domestic Worker

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He asks his final question and says: Is it permissible to pay the zakah of wealth to domestic workers to send it to their families and relatives?

Answer:
This requires a detailed explanation: If you know the worker, that he is poor, that his family is poor, and you are certain of this, there is no harm, provided he is Muslim and his family are Muslims.
As for workers whose circumstances you do not know, nor the circumstances of their families, then no. It is obligatory to seek out known poor Muslims so that you can pay them with certainty in your country. The worker is sufficient with his wage, and praise be to Allah.
But if you are certain that he is poor, that the wage is low, and that he has a family, or poor parents, and they are Muslims... this is something without doubt; so there is no objection to giving him from the zakah, on the condition that it not be a protection for the owner; so that you do not increase the wage; so that he does not demand an increased wage from you. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh! It is known that when domestic workers receive some of the zakah, their service improves. So what is your guidance, if you permit?

The Shaykh : If it is not a condition, then there is no harm. And if he fears [it will be a condition], he gives it to others, he gives it to others; as a precaution for his religion.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
