What is the expiation for unintentional killing?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
With Allah's blessing, we begin this session with a question from the questioner (M. M.), who says: What is the expiation for killing, or for the one who kills unintentionally? We ask for this information, may you be rewarded?

Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has made clear in His Noble Book the expiation for accidental killing, which is freeing a believing slave; if one is unable to do so, he must fast for two consecutive months. This is based on the saying of Allah, the Exalted, in Surat al-Nisa:
And never is it for a believer to kill a believer except by mistake. And whoever kills a believer by mistake - then the freeing of a believing slave and a compensation payment presented to the deceased's family [is required] unless they give [up their right as] charityوَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ أَنْ يَقْتُلَ مُؤْمِنًا إِلَّا خَطَأً وَمَنْ قَتَلَ مُؤْمِنًا خَطَأً فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُؤْمِنَةٍ وَدِيَةٌ مُسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ إِلَّا أَنْ يَصَّدَّقُوا
[al-Nisa:92]. So the expiation is freeing a believing slave, and he must also pay the blood money, unless the family of the deceased forgives him and waives the blood money; in that case, there is no harm. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
