A man striving to earn a livelihood for his family: what is obligatory upon him regarding acts of worship and voluntary deeds?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The letter I gave you last week, is this in response to it?

The Shaykh : Are you the owner of the business?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes, the answer is as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith:
Be moderate and approximate. ساددوا وقاربوا
meaning: you should perform the acts of worship that it is not permissible for you to neglect.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : You should initially and in advance set aside voluntary deeds and recommended practices so that you can manage to seek a livelihood within the limits of what Allah makes easy for you. When you find an opportunity for worship, voluntary deeds, and extra acts, do so. However, as a regular routine, limit yourself to the obligatory duties for now so you can devote yourself to seeking a livelihood. Is the answer clear?
