The Cure for Envy
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This questioner says: O Shaykh! Is there any cure for the disease of envy other than the Qur'an? And does the envious person commit a sin?
Answer:
There is a remedy, yes. He should fear Allah and ask his Lord for well-being. When he sees something, he should invoke blessings upon it by saying: "What Allah willed, there is no power except with Allah, may Allah bless such-and-such." This is one of the means of safety from envy and the evil eye. He should also ask his Lord for well-being and for Allah to protect him from the harm of his own eye and the harm of his soul that commands evil, as is authentically reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
So it is obligatory in such a case, if a person feels something of envy or the evil eye from himself, that he should fear Allah, ask Allah for well-being, and seek refuge in Allah from Satan. And when he sees what he likes, he should bless it and say: "O Allah, bless it. What Allah willed, there is no power except by Allah," as that came from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and as Allah related about the owner of the gardens [al-Kahf: 39].
So this is among the means of safety: "What Allah willed, there is no power except by Allah," may Allah bless it, O Allah, bless it. All of this is among the means of safety. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh.

Allah has not sent down a disease except that He has sent down for it a cure; those who know it know it, and those who do not know it do not know it.
ما أنزل الله داء إلا أنزل له دواء، علمه من علمه وجهله من جهلهSo it is obligatory in such a case, if a person feels something of envy or the evil eye from himself, that he should fear Allah, ask Allah for well-being, and seek refuge in Allah from Satan. And why did you, when you entered your garden, not say, 'What Allah willed [has occurred]; there is no power except in Allah '?
وَلَوْلا إِذْ دَخَلْتَ جَنَّتَكَ قُلْتَ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ لا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِSo this is among the means of safety: "What Allah willed, there is no power except by Allah," may Allah bless it, O Allah, bless it. All of this is among the means of safety. Yes.
