Is the waiting period required for a woman whose husband has died while she was pregnant, and who then gives birth?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner, Abdulrahim, asks in his second question: Is the waiting period required for a woman whose husband has died while she was pregnant, and who then gives birth?

Answer:
Yes, if her husband dies, or if he divorces her while she is pregnant, her waiting period is the remainder of the pregnancy. So when she gives birth, the waiting period ends. This applies whether she was divorced, divorced at her request for compensation, or her husband died; her waiting period is the delivery of the child. This is based on the saying of Allah, the Exalted:
And for those who are pregnant, their term is until they give birthوَأُوْلاتُ الأَحْمَالِ أَجَلُهُنَّ أَنْ يَضَعْنَ حَمْلَهُنَّ
[Surat al-Talaq: 4]. This encompasses the divorced woman, the woman divorced at her request for compensation, and the woman whose husband has died. When she delivers the child, she exits the waiting period of her husband, whether he is alive or dead. If he divorced her, or divorced her at her request for compensation, or divorced her for money, or if he died, when she delivers, she exits the waiting period. Yes.
