The time for the end of the waiting period of a pregnant woman whose husband has died
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This is a letter we received from the questioner (Abdullah N. S.) from ad-Dal'am, in which he says: If a woman is pregnant and then her husband dies, does she exit her waiting period and mourning upon giving birth, or does she continue for four months and ten days even if she gives birth one month or less after her husband's death?
Answer: When a pregnant woman gives birth, she exits both the waiting period and the mourning, by the explicit statement of Allah the Exalted: [Surat at-Talaq: 4]. And in the two Sahihs: This is a point of consensus among the scholars of knowledge. There was some slight disagreement on this matter in the early period, but it disappeared and vanished, and the consensus settled on the fact that when a woman gives birth, she exits the waiting period. It is not obligatory for her to observe a waiting period of four months and ten days; rather, whenever she gives birth, even if it is after her husband's death by nights, hours, or minutes, she exits the waiting period, and praise be to Allah. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah bless you and reward you with good.
