Is zakah obligatory on fed sheep?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
We conclude this session with a question from the questioner: Salem Hamdan says: I have sheep numbering more than one hundred and twenty, but forty of them are in a pen where we give them barley and water. Do we pay zakah on them along with the others that graze, knowing that the ones that graze number only about eighty?

Answer:
Zakah is due on the grazing sheep, those that graze for the whole lunar year, or most of it; these are the ones on which zakah is paid. As for the fed sheep, there is no zakah on them unless they are for sale, in which case they are subject to the zakah of trade. If the fed sheep are prepared for sale, they are appraised when the year is completed. What are they worth? If they are worth ten thousand, he pays zakah on ten thousand; if they are worth twenty thousand, he pays zakah on twenty thousand, and so on.
As for the grazing sheep that graze for most of the lunar year, zakah is paid from them: in twenty-five, a bint makhad; in thirty-six, a bint labun, and so on. Yes.
