Question:
His last question is about shaving the beard. He says: What is the ruling on shaving the beard? Is growing it obligatory, or is it a recommended practice? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Growing the beard, letting it grow, and maintaining it is obligatory. It is not permissible to cut it or shave it. Rather, it is obligatory to maintain it and let it grow; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Trim your mustaches, let your beards grow, and differ from the polytheistsقصوا الشوارب، وأعفوا اللحى، خالفوا المشركين
and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Cut the beards short, let the beards grow, and be distinct from the polytheists.قصوا الشوارب، ووفروا اللحى، خالفوا المشركين
and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Trim closely the moustache, and grow beard, and thus act against the fire-worshippers.جزوا الشوارب، وأرخوا اللحى، خالفوا المجوس
