Does the poor person pay zakat al-fitr from what he is given?

Answer:
Yes, he pays it if the gift reaches him before the festival; he pays it. But if the gift does not reach him until after the festival, he owes nothing, if he is poor and has nothing on the night of the festival. If he does not have a sa' to pay for himself, or more than that for himself and his household due to his extreme poverty, and he has nothing, then he owes nothing. But if he has enough that he can pay a sa' for himself and other sa' for his household, after the amount he needs for the day and night of the festival, this is obligatory for him. He sets aside what he needs for the day and night of the festival and pays the fitrah from the remainder for himself and his household. But if he does not, if he cannot, and he has nothing, then he owes nothing. But if he is given a fitrah before the festival, if people give him a fitrah before the festival, he pays his zakat from it. Yes.
