The Ruling on Killing Monkeys That Eat Crops

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This is a message received by the program from the listener Muhsin Hamid Ali al-Salath from the Aslafa district in Yemen. Our brother has a question in which he says: We are in an arid agricultural country where monkeys are abundant, and they damage the agricultural crops. Is it permissible for us to poison them so that they die and do not harm us?

Answer:
Yes, if the monkeys are causing harm, they are to be killed by any type of killing, just as biting dogs that harm people are killed, and likewise cats, if they cause harm and their evil cannot be repelled except by killing, they are killed, just as wild beasts such as wolves and others are killed. So, if monkeys harm the owners of farms and their evil cannot be repelled except by killing, they are to be killed by poison and other means, and by rifles and other causes that repel their harm. Likewise, the biting dog is killed, and likewise the cat, if it harms the people of the house and its evil cannot be repelled except by that, it is killed. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
