Question:
In his second question, His Eminence Shaykh 'Abd al-'Aziz says: I hope you will guide us to the supplications that are recited for the deceased and to the best of these supplications. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded seeking forgiveness for the deceased. When he finished burying the deceased, he would say:
Seek forgiveness for your brother, and beg steadfastness for him, for he will be questioned now.استغفروا لأخيكم وسلوا له التثبيت فإنه الآن يسأل
Sunan Abi Dawud 3221Sahih (Al-Albani)
, and Allah the Exalted says:
And those who came after them...وَالَّذِينَ جَاءُوا مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ..
saying, "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believedيَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلِإِخْوَانِنَا الَّذِينَ سَبَقُونَا بِالإِيمَانِ وَلا تَجْعَلْ فِي قُلُوبِنَا غِلًّا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا
[Al-Hashr: 10].
So, one supplicates for the deceased with forgiveness, mercy, residence in Paradise, and safety from the Fire. These are the supplications that Allah has prescribed for the deceased: that they be asked for forgiveness, mercy, entry into Paradise, and safety from the Fire, and that Allah multiply their good deeds and raise their ranks. These are the good supplications for the deceased among the Muslims. Yes.
