Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
With Allah’s blessing, we begin this session with a message received from Jordan from the listener Nudal Muhammad. He says in this question: Your Eminence, is it permissible for a woman to slaughter? And what is the meaning of His saying, the Exalted: [Al-Kawthar:2].
Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon His servant and Messenger, our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment. As for what follows:
There is no harm in the slaughter of a woman if she is skilled in it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted a dispensation in this matter and ordered the eating of her slaughter, provided she is skilled in it. In that case, there is nothing wrong with it, just as with a man.
As for His saying, (Exalted and Majestic is He):[Al-Kawthar 108:1] فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَانْحَرْ [Al-Kawthar:1-2], what is its specific meaning? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the ritual slaughter, and the Companions performed the ritual slaughter. Every Muslim performs the ritual slaughter, and al-nahr is slaughter. So the man slaughters, and the woman slaughters, if every person is skilled in slaughter. As for the one who is not skilled in slaughter, whether male or female, he is not ordered to slaughter; he should seek someone else.
The presenter: May Allah reward you. Is it permissible for a person to slaughter while he is in a state of major ritual impurity, while he is in a state of major ritual impurity?
The Shaykh: Yes, but he must mention the name of Allah, saying: In the name of Allah, even if he is in a state of major ritual impurity.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
