The Ruling on Painting Nails with Nail Polish and Henna

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
From the Republic of Djibouti, the listener (F. A. H.) asks a number of questions, among which is a question about painting the nails: is it not permissible, or is it?
May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Painting the nails with henna or anything else that beautifies them is permissible, provided it is pure and not impure, and is thin enough not to prevent wudu' or ghusl. However, if it has a substance, it must be removed during wudu' and ghusl so that it does not prevent water from reaching the actual nail.
The point is: using something that changes the nail, such as henna or what they call nail polish, is permissible if the substance is removed during wudu' and ghusl, if it has a substance. As for if it has no substance, like henna that makes the nail red or black but does not leave a substance behind, this does not harm. But if it has a substance that prevents water, it must be removed. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
