The ruling on children passing in front of those praying
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: When I stand up for prayer, my daughter, who is three years old, and her brother, who is one and a half years old, come and do the usual movements of children. How should I deal with them? And is my prayer valid when they pass in front of me and around me?
Answer:
The prayer is valid. If it is possible to prevent them—preventing the children—that is what is required, and it is prescribed. It is prescribed that you prevent anyone from passing in front of you, whether that person is a child, a beast, or otherwise; because of his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih al-Bukhari 509.
The point is: if it is possible to prevent the child or the animal, you must prevent it according to your ability. If they overpower you, there is no blame on you, except if the one passing is a woman, a donkey, or a black dog, for it cuts off the prayer. These three; because of his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):Bulugh al-Maram 2:98, narrated by Muslim in the Sahih. As for other than these three, it does not cut off the prayer, but it reduces the reward. If a man passes, the reward is reduced, or if a child passes, the reward is reduced if you did not prevent him while you were able to, or if an animal other than a black dog passes, the reward is reduced. But it does not cut off the prayer except for these three, which invalidate the prayer: the woman if she is fully grown, the donkey, and the black dog. As for a girl who has not reached puberty, she does not cut off the prayer. Yes.

If anybody amongst you is praying behind something as a Sutra and somebody tries to pass in front of him, then he should repulse him and if he refuses, he should use force against him for he is a Shaitan (a Satan).
