Explanation of what breaks the prayer of the one praying by passing in front of him

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Our brother is asking another question and says: I heard from one of the scholars that there are three things that invalidate the prayer, which are: the passing of a black dog in front of the one praying, the passing of a menstruating woman, and also the passing of a donkey. Is this statement correct, with evidence, if it is correct?
Answer: Yes, it is correct. Muslim narrated it in his Sahih, may Allah have mercy on him, from Abu Dharr, may Allah be pleased with him, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
It suffices for one of you in prayer to have in front of him like the back of a saddle, so if a woman, a donkey, and a black dog pass between him and it... his prayerيجزئ أحدكم في الصلاة أن يكون بين يديه مثل مؤخرة الرحل، فإذا مر بينه وبينها المرأة والحمار والكلب الأسود ..... صلاته
, and in the other wording:
It breaks the prayer of the Muslim man: the woman, the donkey, and the black dogيقطع صلاة المرء المسلم المرأة والحمار والكلب الأسود
. Muslim brought it out in the Sahih, and he also brought it out from the hadith of Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) , and it does not mention the black one. However, the rule of the Shari'ah is that the absolute hadith is restricted by the restricted one. Therefore, Abu Dharr said to him:
O Messenger of Allah! What is the matter with the black one compared to the red one and the yellow one? He said: The black dog is a devilيا رسول الله! ما بال الأسود من الأحمر والأصفر؟ قال: الكلب الأسود شيطان
. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) clarified that it is a devil of its kind, and that the black one is a devil of the kind of dogs, so it breaks the prayer unlike the rest of the dogs. The donkey is also absolute. As for the woman, it came in the hadith of Ibn Abbas with Abu Dawud and al-Nasa'i with a good chain restricting her to the menstruating woman. So the narration of Ibn Abbas restricts the narration of Abu Dharr and Abu Hurayrah, and that it is the adult woman, meaning the one who has reached menstruation, just as in the other hadith, where he (peace and blessings be upon him) says:
Allah does not accept the prayer of the menstruating woman except with a head coveringلا يقبل الله صلاة المرأة الحائض إلا بخمار
. He said: So the menstruating woman has a status, and she is the one who has reached puberty and has become the place of desire for men. The young girl does not break the prayer; rather, it is the complete adult woman who has reached menstruation who breaks it. These three break the prayer. This was difficult for Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, and she said:
How bad is what you likened us to, the donkeys and the dogs? I used to lie across in front of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the bed while he was prayingبئس ما شبهتم بنا بالحمير والكلاب؟ لقد كنت أعترض بين يدي النبي ﷺ على السرير وهو يصلي
. And what she said, may Allah be pleased with her, was according to her ijtihad, even though she was among the most knowledgeable of women, but some things were hidden from her, and this was among what was hidden from her. For her being on the bed, her being lying down in front of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was praying, is not passing. Passing is what breaks it. As for her being lying down in front of the one praying, or sitting in front of the one praying, this is not passing and does not break the prayer. Rather, what breaks it is passing. So Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, was unaware of this matter. And the speech of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) takes precedence over her and others, for he is the legislator and the teacher, peace and blessings be upon him. So it is obligatory to obey his command and follow his Shari'ah, and to make the women and others understand his intent, peace and blessings be upon him.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, Shaykh Abdul Aziz! I do not know if there is a difference between a woman passing in front of her mahram, or if a woman passes in front of a man who is praying and he is not one of her mahrams?
Answer: There is no difference in that. If the woman passes in front of the one praying, whether the one praying is her mahram or a stranger, or even a woman, even if it is a woman, if the donkey, the dog, and the woman pass in front of the one praying, whether male or female, near or far, husband or not, all of them, the hadith is general and covers everyone.
The presenter: Did he clarify the wisdom as he did with the dog, Shaykh Abdul Aziz?
Answer: I do not remember anything in this.
The presenter: Perhaps His Eminence the Shaykh is researching this topic, especially since many people raise more than one question about it?
The Shaykh: The rule upon which the people of knowledge are is to accept what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said with an open heart and a broad chest, whether we know the wisdom or we do not know the wisdom, because we are certain and assert that our Lord is Wise and All-Knowing, and that He does not command except for a wisdom, and He does not prohibit except for a wisdom. It may appear to a believer, it may appear to a student of knowledge, and it may be hidden. Some of it may be hidden and some of it may be apparent. So whoever the wisdom appears to him, this is light upon light, a favor from Allah. And if the wisdom does not appear, he has no right to object. He must follow, and he must adhere to the command of Allah, and he does not speak about the wisdom. So this prayer now, the Zuhr is four, the Isha is four, the Asr is four, the Maghrib is three, and the Fajr is two rak'ahs. People may dispute about the wisdom, what is the wisdom in this?! And your Lord is the Wise, the All-Knowing . And if someone says: The Zuhr or the Asr or the Isha is a suitable time for length, another may say: The Fajr is more energetic and stronger for the one who slept early, so he is more energetic to pray four for the Fajr, and more energetic for the one who prays the Maghrib to pray three if he is resting in the Asr or resting in the Zuhr and Asr. So the result is: that this should not be considered, rather we must submit and obey, and obey Allah and His Messenger in that. And so in fasting, the one may say: What is the wisdom in making Ramadan thirty, fasting Ramadan in winter and summer, in winter it is cold and there is hardship, in standing in it there is hardship, if standing was made on the night of fifteen and in winter thirty, all these are conjectures that the servant should not say. Rather, he must be pleased and submit and accept the Shari'ah of Allah. And so in Hajj, it may fall in the time of winter, and it may fall in the time of summer, and there are hardships in it, and with this Allah has organized it in a specific time, Blessed and Exalted is He. So we must follow and submit to the command of Allah, and submit to His judgment, Blessed is He. And if He clarifies to us some of the wisdoms, this is a favor from Him, a favor from Him, Blessed is He. Yes. The presenter: May Allah bless you and reward you with the best reward, hoping that another opportunity will be given to us, His Eminence the Shaykh, for you to be generous with more clarification about this topic. The Shaykh: If Allah wills. The presenter: If Allah wills.
