Permissibility of performing 'Umrah and giving charity on behalf of a deceased person

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner asks Your Eminence, saying: Is it permissible for me to perform 'Umrah and give charity on behalf of that deceased person? I hope for clarification of the issue and an answer. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Yes, you are to be thanked and rewarded if you perform 'Umrah on his behalf, or give charity on his behalf; you are to be thanked and rewarded. This is because this falls under the category of doing good to your brother. The 'Umrah benefits him, the charity benefits him, and supplication benefits him. So do good to him—may Allah reward you with good—and be glad of the good. If you have not performed 'Umrah in your lifetime, start with yourself: perform 'Umrah, then perform 'Umrah on his behalf.
If you have already performed 'Umrah in the past for yourself, then praise be to Allah; perform 'Umrah for your deceased brother. If you give charity on his behalf with whatever money, food, or other things Allah makes easy for you, all of it is good. Likewise, if you supplicate for him for forgiveness and mercy. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
