The Lawfulness of Shortening and Combining Prayers for One Whose Journey Is the Distance for Shortening

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The brothers Muhammad Ahmad Faltah and Khalid Adam Idris sent a question, saying: We are residents of the Noble City of Makkah. We went on a recreational trip that is one hundred kilometers from Makkah, and the time for prayer arrived. Is it permissible for us to shorten and combine, or only to shorten?
May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
What is prescribed for you, if the situation is as you described, is shortening. That is, this is a journey of the Sunnah, where the prayer is two units. As for combining, you have a choice. If you combine, there is no harm. If you leave off combining, that is better, provided you are settled and there is no hardship on you from leaving off combining. That is better because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not combine in Mina during the Farewell Pilgrimage because he was staying in Mina, so he did not combine (peace and blessings be upon him). However, if the traveler combines, there is no blame on him, except that leaving it off is better if he is at ease and settled. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
