Question:
This female questioner, Sister Umm Yasser from Riyadh, says—Your Eminence: Is it permissible for me to give my zakah al-mal to a woman who does not pray?
Answer:
Do not give it; do not give her the zakah. Give it to a woman who prays. Look for good poor people. The one who does not pray is a disbeliever, may Allah protect us. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Ibn Majah 1079Sahih (Darussalam) And the disbelievers are not given [zakah] except those whose hearts are to be reconciled. They are given from the zakah. Those whose hearts are to be reconciled are the leaders of the tribes and the prominent people, such that if Allah guides them, He guides others through their guidance, and great benefit is realized for the people through their guidance. As for individual disbelievers, no. Yes.
