The Ruling on Shaking Hands with Women and Visiting Them in Hospitals

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
One of the listening brothers, who indicated his name with the letters (A. M. S), our brother asks Your Eminence about shaking hands with women, and visiting them in hospitals, especially if they are not mahrams but are relatives. What is the ruling on that? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
As for visiting them in the hospital, or outside the hospital, for the purpose of maintaining family ties, without seclusion, without suspicion, and without doubt; there is nothing wrong with it, provided it is done with her mahram, or in the presence of women, such as her mother and sisters.
The point is: as long as there is no doubt or seclusion, there is nothing wrong with it. As for shaking hands, no, a man must not shake hands with a woman, unless she is one of the mahrams, such as a sister, a maternal aunt, or a mother... and the like.
As for a non-mahram woman—even if she is his paternal aunt, his maternal aunt, or his maternal aunt’s daughter—he must not shake hands with her; because a paternal aunt is a non-mahram, a maternal aunt is a non-mahram, and a maternal aunt’s daughter is a non-mahram. It is permissible for him to marry her.
The point is: shaking hands with a non-mahram is not permissible, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
But I do not shake hands with women.إني لا أصافح النساء
Sunan Ibn Majah 2874Sahih (Darussalam)
And Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "By Allah, the hand of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) never touched the hand of a woman. He only pledged allegiance to them with words." And because shaking hands may lead to fitnah, doubt, and pleasure.
The point is: shaking hands with non-mahrams is not permissible, but with a mahram, such as a sister or a paternal aunt, there is nothing wrong with it. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
