The ruling on a husband being absent from his wife for a long period

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was received for the program from Iraq, sent by one of the brothers. He says: Muhsin Abdul Aziz Abdul Wahhab from the Arab Republic of Egypt. Our brother says that he works as a taxi driver and is absent from his wife for more than two years. He asks about the ruling on this. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
He should fear Allah regarding her. He should fear Allah in his treatment of his wife and not be absent from her for a long period. Rather, he should hold himself accountable and come to her from time to time according to his ability, and not be lax in this matter. For this may lead to her deviation and her falling into what Allah has forbidden, because it is a long period. The wife has a great right. Allah says:
And live with them in kindnessوَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ
[Al-Nisa: 19]. It is not right to abandon her for such a long period. Rather, he should strive to come to her from time to time, two, three, four, or six months at most, as is narrated from 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that he set six months for the soldiers.
So the result is that circumstances differ in this. The time now is not the time of 'Umar either. The time of 'Umar was better, and the people were in a state of goodness and more fearful of Allah than in our time. Our time has much deviation, much danger, and much immorality. The husband should look at these matters and not be lax in the right of his wife. Rather, his work should be near her so that he can visit her from time to time, or he should move her with him to his work so that he can protect her and protect his honor and her honor. He must fear Allah in this, for he is responsible for her. So he must fear Allah in her affair and not abandon her for a long period for the sake of earning worldly gain. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
