The ruling on stoning the Aqabah pillar after midnight

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner, Hamid al-'Umrī from Makkah al-Mukarramah, has a set of questions. He says: O His Eminence the Shaykh, what is the ruling on leaving Muzdalifah after 1:30 AM to stone the Aqabah pillar, out of fear of the severe crowd?

Answer:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted a dispensation to the weak among women, the elderly, children, and their attendants to leave Muzdalifah at night, meaning: the last part of the night, the latter half, after the moon has set. So there is no harm if the weak among women, their attendants, the elderly, and the like leave and head to Mina to stone the pillar before the crowd; there is nothing wrong with that, just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted them a dispensation.
As for the strong, it is better for them to spend the night at Muzdalifah, and to stand there after the Fajr prayer, facing the qiblah, supplicating to Allah, asking Him, imploring Him, and raising their hands in du'a', as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did. He prayed Fajr at Muzdalifah, then stood there until it became light, and raised his hands and supplicated to his Lord until it was very light, facing the qiblah. When it was very light, he proceeded to Mina before the sun rose. This is the sunnah for pilgrims to pray Fajr at Muzdalifah, and to stand at al-Mash'ar al-Haram in Muzdalifah; every part of Muzdalifah is a place to stand, facing the qiblah, raising their hands, and supplicating with whatever du'a' Allah has made pleasing, asking for the acceptance of their Hajj, for the attainment of forgiveness, and for salvation from the Fire, among other good supplications. When it becomes light, they proceed before the sun rises, heading to Mina before the sun comes up, after it has become light. 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "They used to not proceed in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance until the sun rose, and they would say: 'Thabir has brightened.' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went against them, so he proceeded from Muzdalifah before the sun rose."

The presenter: May Allah reward you, O Shaykh.
