How to Remove the Trace of Tattooing

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The following message was received by the program from one of the listening brothers from Dammam. He says: Abu Anfal, Abu Anfal says: I am a young man—praise be to Allah—who fulfills his duties toward Allah and maintains the five daily prayers in the mosque with the congregation. But my problem is: that in the past, before my repentance, I had a tattoo done on my hand and on my left hand. I am now certain that it is one of the most severe prohibitions and one of the most evil of evils. How do you guide me, Your Eminence the Shaykh, so that I can remove the trace of that tattoo? May Allah reward you with good and do you well, especially since if I try to remove it by ordinary means, it causes me pain. Guide us, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Tattooing is one of the major sins. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “The one who tattoos and the one who gets tattooed are cursed.” It is obligatory for you to exert your utmost effort to remove it through specialized doctors. If that becomes easy for you, then that is what is obligatory for you: to present yourself to a specialist who can remove this tattoo by a possible method that does not result in danger to you. The doctors have insight in this matter, so present it to the specialists. Be hopeful for good—if Allah wills—and it will be removed.
As for the past, repentance wipes out what came before it, and praise be to Allah, repentance is sufficient. But the remaining trace, you must strive to remove it through the specialists. We ask Allah for your assistance.

The presenter: O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
