Guidance for One Who Wants to Memorize the Book of Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: I want to memorize the Noble Qur'an, but I have not been able to do so due to the demands of life. What is your guidance?

Answer:
Memorizing the Qur'an is not obligatory, but it is recommended. If it is facilitated for you to memorize it, then praise be to Allah. Otherwise, there is no blame on you. There is no doubt that memorization is among the great blessings of Allah. If it is facilitated for a believer, male or female, to memorize the Qur'an, this is among the great blessings of Allah.
The purpose of that is to reflect upon it, to read it frequently. If it is facilitated for you to memorize it, this is a great blessing. Otherwise, you should read from the mushaf, with reflection and understanding. This is because the purpose of its revelation is to act upon it and to read it with reflection and understanding. Reflection and understanding are among the causes of understanding it and acting upon it.
Therefore, it is prescribed for everyone—men and women—to care for the Qur'an, to recite it frequently, to reflect upon its meanings, to gain knowledge of it, and to act upon what it indicates by performing the commands and leaving the prohibitions. One should also take a lesson from the news of the past that Allah has related to us, so that we may beware of their evil deeds, and so that we may do what will be a cause of the pleasure of our Lord and our salvation in this world and the Hereafter. He, the Exalted, says:
[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.كِتَابٌ أَنزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَارَكٌ لِيَدَّبَّرُوا آيَاتِهِ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُوْلُوا الأَلْبَابِ
[Surah Sad: 29]. And He, the Exalted, says in His great Book:
Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an, or are there locks upon [their] hearts?أَفَلا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ الْقُرْآنَ أَمْ عَلَى قُلُوبٍ أَقْفَالُهَا
[Surah Muhammad: 24]. And He, (Exalted and Majestic is He), says:
Indeed, this Qur'an guides to that which is most suitableإِنَّ هَذَا الْقُرْآنَ يَهْدِي لِلَّتِي هِيَ أَقْوَمُ
[Surah Al-Isra: 9].
Therefore, it is prescribed for every believer, male and female, to care for the Qur'an, to recite it frequently with reflection, understanding, and comprehension, to review books of tafsir for benefit, to ask the scholars about what is difficult, and to act upon it.
The intended meaning is: work, that you act in obedience to your Lord, that you fulfill His obligatory duties, and that you avoid His prohibitions, with insight, with knowledge, and with desire for what is with Allah, and beware of His punishment. For every letter, there is a good deed, and the good deed is multiplied tenfold, as is authentic in the hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
If anyone recites a letter of God’s Book he will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a tenfold rewardمن قرأ حرفًا من القرآن؛ فله به حسنة، والحسنة بعشر أمثالها
Mishkat al-Masabih 2137
This is among the great blessings of Allah, that you attain great good by reading the Book of Allah, in terms of knowledge and action, and these are great good deeds. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
