How Women Perform the Tarawih Prayer at Home

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
After this, a message was received for the program from one of the sisters. She says: Your sister in Allah, Mas'udah Sufyan. Our sister says: I want to know how the Tarawih prayer is performed for a woman without an imam, that is, in her home. Is it performed aloud? And can women pray in congregation in their homes? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Yes, the Tarawih prayer is concluded with the taslim after every two rak'ahs in the homes. The woman prays with them and stands in the middle of them, not in front of them, but in the middle of them. She says the takbir and raises her voice in the recitation so that they can benefit from it. This is prescribed (mashru'), and it has been narrated that 'Aishah and other wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did this. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Umm Warakah to lead the people of her house in prayer. So, if women pray in congregation in their homes in Ramadan, or in the times when they pray the obligatory prayer, it is all good, it is all fine.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
