The ruling on raising the hands in supplication after the prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner from Libya, Muhammad, sent a message containing several questions. In one of them, he asks: What is the ruling on raising the hands in supplication after the prayer?

Answer:
It is not reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he raised his hands after the obligatory prayers of Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr. As for the voluntary prayers, the matter is broad in them. If one raises his hands at times, the matter is broad; taking into account the generality of the evidence indicating that raising the hands is among the causes of acceptance. Raising the hands is among the causes of acceptance. So if one raises his hands at times after the voluntary prayer, or at other times, that is among the causes of acceptance. As for it being obligatory that he raises his hands every time he prays the voluntary prayer, it is better to leave that; because this was not preserved from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), which indicates that he did not do it constantly. As for doing it at times, there is no harm—Allah willing—due to the generality of the evidence. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
