The Virtue of Patience in the Face of Calamities

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner says in this question, O His Eminence the Shaykh: Does patience with what saddens a person and disturbs his life bring him reward, recompense, and elevation in rank?

Answer:
Yes, patience in the face of calamities is a means of drawing near to Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He). Allah says:
And give good tidings to the patientوَبَشِّرِ الصَّابِرِينَ ۝
Those who, when a calamity strikes them, say, “Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we shall return.” It is those upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the guided ones. [Surat al-Baqarah: 155-157]. And He says, the Exalted:
and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.وَاصْبِرُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ
[Al-Anfal: 46]. And He says, (Exalted and Majestic is He):
Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account."إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُونَ أَجْرَهُمْ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ
[Az-Zumar: 10]. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
How wonderful is the affair of the believer, for all of his affair is good for him; if hardship strikes him, he is patient, and it is good for him, and if ease strikes him, he is grateful, and it is good for him.عجبًا لأمر المؤمن، وإن أمره كله له خير؛ إن أصابته ضراء؛ صبر، فكان خيرًا له، وإن أصابته سراء؛ شكر، فكان خيرًا له
.
So if a woman or a man is struck by worries or sorrows, whether from religion, or from the enmity of someone, or from the enmity of his parents, or from his neighbors, and he is patient and does nothing but good, then he has a great reward. Likewise, if he is patient with illnesses and sorrows, such as the death of a close relative, all of this contains great good and great virtue. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and bless you.
