How to Pray over Multiple Funerals

Question:
The listener (Hassan M. A.) also asks questions, saying: I attended two funerals in the mosque: one was a male and the other was a female. Is it permissible to combine them in one prayer? Or should one pray over the female alone, and likewise over the male alone?

Answer:
The Sunnah is to combine them and pray over them all together; because this is faster in completing the task for them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: And he (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed over a group. So the Sunnah is to combine the man and the woman, or two men, or two women, or more, and pray over them all together. If they are two men, he says: O Allah, forgive them both and have mercy on them both. And likewise for two women. If they are a group, he says: O Allah, forgive them, have mercy on them, grant them well-being, and pardon them... and so on, and he supplicates for them. Yes.
