The Ruling on a Woman Praying over a Corpse

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was received for the program from the listener Fatimah Sa'id al-Sarhani from Jizan. Our sister is asking a collection of questions. In her first question, she says: Is it permissible for a woman to pray over a corpse or not?

Answer:
Yes, the funeral prayer is prescribed for everyone, for men and women. She may pray over the corpse at home or in the mosque; all of that is permissible. Aisha and the women prayed over Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) when he passed away.
The point is that the funeral prayer is prescribed for everyone. What is prohibited is her going to the graves, following the funeral procession to the cemetery, and visiting the graves. However, there is nothing wrong with her praying over the deceased in a mosque, a prayer place, or the home of his family. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
