Question:
A message was sent from Qena Governorate in the Arab Republic of Egypt by the listener Hamada Abd al-Rahman Ismail. He asks and says: Is supplication answered in the Fajr prayer? And what are the supplications you advise us to use? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
Supplication in prostration is hoped to be answered in Fajr, and in other times as well. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith:Riyad as-Salihin 1427 meaning: so it is fitting that it be answered for you. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Abi Dawud 875Sahih (Al-Albani).
And likewise, at the end of the tashahhud, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said when he taught Ibn Mas'ud the tashahhud:Sahih al-Bukhari 835 And in the other wording, he said: Sahih Muslim 402b This covers all five prayers, not just Fajr. And likewise, supplication between the two prostrations.
The point is: it is prescribed for the believer to supplicate in his prayer... in his prostration... between the two prostrations... at the end of the tashahhud. So he says between the two prostrations: My Lord, forgive me, My Lord, forgive me, and he adds what he wishes. O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, heal me, provide for me, and keep me safe. But it is obligatory to say once: My Lord, forgive me, or O Allah, forgive me. And what is added is a recommended practice of supplication, between the two prostrations. And he supplicates in his prostration with what Allah makes easy for him, and at the end of the tashahhud likewise. Of the supplications the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used in prostration:Sahih Muslim 483, this is from the supplication of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in prostration: Sahih Muslim 483 And of the great supplications: Sunan Ibn Majah 3850Sahih (Darussalam).
And likewise: O Allah, I ask You for Your pleasure and Paradise, and I seek refuge in You from Your anger and the Fire. O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and whatever brings one closer to it in word and deed, and I seek refuge in You from the Fire and whatever brings one closer to it in word and deed. O Allah, I ask You for guidance and uprightness. O Allah, I ask You for guidance and piety, chastity and wealth. All of these are great supplications.
And likewise: O Allah, inspire me to do what is right, and protect me from the evil of my soul. O Allah, protect me from the stinginess of my soul. O Allah, protect me from the stinginess of my soul. O Allah, rectify my heart and my deeds. O Allah, rectify my heart and my deeds. O Allah, give me understanding in my religion. My Lord, increase me in knowledge. And so with the other appropriate supplications. Yes.

Answer:
Supplication in prostration is hoped to be answered in Fajr, and in other times as well. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith:
Glorify your Lord in Ruku' (bowing posture) and exert yourself in supplication in prostration. Thus your supplications are liable to be accepted.
The nearest a servant come to his Lord is when he is prostrating himself, so make supplication often.
And likewise, at the end of the tashahhud, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said when he taught Ibn Mas'ud the tashahhud:
Then select the invocation you like best and recite it.
Then he may choose any supplication which pleases him.
The point is: it is prescribed for the believer to supplicate in his prayer... in his prostration... between the two prostrations... at the end of the tashahhud. O Lord, forgive me all my sins, small and great, first and last, open and secret.
O Lord, forgive me all my sins, small and great, first and last, open and secret.
Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul-'afwa, fa'fu 'anni (O Allah, You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me)
And likewise: O Allah, I ask You for Your pleasure and Paradise, and I seek refuge in You from Your anger and the Fire. O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and whatever brings one closer to it in word and deed, and I seek refuge in You from the Fire and whatever brings one closer to it in word and deed.
