I heard that supplication after the 'Asr prayer on Friday is answered, if Allah wills. How is the supplication performed, what are the preferred verses, and is the supplication and recitation considered a prayer?

The questioner : The questioner says: I heard that supplication after the 'Asr prayer on Friday is answered, if Allah wills. How is the supplication performed, what are the preferred verses, and is the supplication and recitation considered a prayer?

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets and the Imam of the righteous, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
There is an hour (opportune time) on Friday and if a Muslim gets it while praying and asks something from Allah, then Allah will definitely meet his demand. في يوم الجمعة ساعة لا يوافقها عبد مسلم وهو قائم يصلي يسأل الله تعالى شيئا إلا أعطاه الله إياه
Sahih al-Bukhari 935
The scholars have differed regarding this hour with many opinions, and the most likely are two hours: The first hour is when the imam goes out for the Friday prayer, meaning when he enters the mosque and sits on the pulpit until the prayer is completed. This is the most likely hour for the acceptance of supplication, because the people are gathered in this hour for prayer and waiting for the prayer. A person can supplicate in the Friday prayer during prostration and after the final tashahhud, and he can supplicate with whatever he wishes. The second hour in which the acceptance of supplication is hoped for is after the 'Asr prayer until the sun sets. However, there is a difficulty with this, because the hadith contains a condition, which is that the supplicant is standing and praying. The scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) answered that if a person is in anticipation of the Maghrib prayer, he is in prayer, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the man who performs wudu in his home, perfecting his wudu, then goes out to the mosque, and nothing takes him out except prayer. He does not take a step except that Allah raises him thereby a degree and removes from him thereby a sin. So when he comes to the mosque and prays and sits waiting for the prayer, he remains in prayer as long as he waits for the prayer. Accordingly, if a person anticipates the setting of the sun while sitting and waiting for the Maghrib prayer and supplicates, it is hoped that it will be answered for him. Let him supplicate to Allah with whatever he wishes, whatever he loves from the matters of religion and the world, whether in a general way, such as saying: "Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire," or in a specific way, such as saying: "O Allah, provide me with a spacious house, provide me with abundant, good wealth, provide me with such and such." Because supplicating to Allah the Exalted is worship in all circumstances. Allah the Exalted said:
And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you." Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible.
[Ghafir 40:60]
Even if you supplicate to Allah Mighty and Majestic for something trivial from the matters of the world, that is worship. Therefore, we encourage our brothers to supplicate to Allah Mighty and Majestic frequently, because one of three things will happen for him: either Allah answers his supplication, or He stores it for him until the Day of Resurrection, or He averts from him an evil that is more beneficial for him.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
