The ruling on sitting with those who believe in the knowledge of the unseen in the awliya (close friends of Allah)

Question:
We return at the beginning of this episode to a message sent to the program from the listener: Raqib Mahmoud Muhammad Ali. Our brother appears to be Sudanese, and we presented some of his questions in a previous episode of this program. In this episode, he asks Your Eminence, saying: We have some brothers who fall into some shirk (associating partners with Allah). He says that the wali (close friend of Allah), or this righteous man whom he inclines toward, knows the unseen, or that he has some knowledge of the unseen. Is it permissible for us to sit with people like these? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
This and its like: it is not permissible to sit with them except for the sake of da'wah (calling others to Islam), teaching, guidance, and advice. This is because calling upon the awliya (close friends of Allah), and seeking aid from the awliya (close friends of Allah)—who are the owners of graves or those who are absent—is major shirk (associating partners with Allah), which the messengers (peace be upon them) came with the prohibition of, and the Noble Qur'an indicated the prohibition of it, and that it is major shirk (associating partners with Allah).
So calling upon them, seeking aid from them, making vows for them, and slaughtering for them, all of this is major shirk (associating partners with Allah). Circumambulating their graves, all of this is major shirk (associating partners with Allah). And believing that they know the unseen, this is major disbelief (kufr). Only Allah alone (Glorified and Exalted is He) knows the unseen. The messengers and others do not know the unseen; only Allah knows it, except for what Allah taught them. As He taught them some things regarding the matter of the Hereafter, the matter of the end times, and what has passed of time. They have no knowledge of the unseen except what Allah taught them. As Allah (the Exalted) said in His great Book:
Say, "None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allahقُلْ لا يَعْلَمُ مَنْ فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ الْغَيْبَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ
[Surat al-Naml: 65]. And He (the Exalted) said:
And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him.وَعِنْدَهُ مَفَاتِحُ الْغَيْبِ لا يَعْلَمُهَا إِلَّا هُوَ
[Surat al-An'am: 59]. And He said to His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), saying to the people:
Say, "I hold not for myself [the power of] benefit or harm, except what Allah has willed. And if I knew the unseen, I could have acquired much wealth, and no harm would have touched me. I am not except a warner and a bringer of good tidings to a people who believe."
[Surat al-A'raf: 188]. Thus he (peace and blessings be upon him) tells them that he is a warner and a bringer of good news, not one who knows the unseen. And He (Exalted and Majestic is He) commands His Prophet to inform the people:
Say, [O Muhammad], "I do not tell you that I have the depositories [containing the provision] of Allah or that I know the unseen, nor do I tell you that I am an angel. I only follow what is revealed to me."
[Surat al-An'am: 50].
So the knowledge of the unseen belongs to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). And whoever says that this particular wali (close friend of Allah), Ibn Arabi, or al-Husayn (may Allah have mercy on him) or Ali (may Allah have mercy on him) or the Shaykh: Abdul Qadir al-Jilani, or others, whoever says that these, or others, know the unseen; he has committed disbelief (kufr) and shirk (associating partners with Allah), and lied to Allah (the Exalted) . And likewise, whoever visits the graves of these people to call upon them, or seek aid from them, or calls upon them from afar from their graves in any place, calls upon them, seeks aid from them, makes vows for them, or believes that they benefit or harm, or that they know the unseen, or that they respond to those who call upon them by removing distress and bringing benefit, or the like of that. This is major shirk (associating partners with Allah). This is the religion of the jahiliyyah (the pre-Islamic age of ignorance), the religion of Quraysh in their state of ignorance and disbelief. This is the religion of Abu Jahl and his like.
So calling upon the dead, seeking aid from the dead, slaughtering for the dead, and asking them for healing, and likewise asking the absent ones from the jinn, or the angels, or others, all of this is major shirk (associating partners with Allah). So it is obligatory to be cautious of that with the utmost caution. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
