Ruling on Giving Zakah to Parents and Siblings

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the ruling on giving zakah to my mother, my father, my brother, and my sister?

Answer:
Giving zakah to parents and children is not sufficient according to the majority of scholars; in fact, some of them reported that it is the consensus of the scholars. As for giving it to a brother, a sister, an uncle, an aunt, a maternal uncle, or other relatives, there is no harm if they are poor and belong to the category of those eligible for zakah. As for your parents, you must provide for them from your own wealth, not from zakah. Likewise, your children and your wife must be provided for from your wealth, not from zakah. Zakah is not given to parents, a wife, or children, but it may be given to other relatives if they are poor, such as brothers, uncles, maternal uncles, cousins, or others; there is no harm if they are poor. Yes. It is charity and maintaining family ties.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
