The ruling on circulating a donation box among the worshippers

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A listener named Fatah al-Rahman from Riyadh sent a message asking several questions in it. He says: We have a charity box for the benefit of the mosque, and there is a man assigned to this box who circulates it among the rows of worshippers before the prayer, especially on Friday. What is the ruling on this practice, given that some of the worshippers find it somewhat uncomfortable?

Answer:
This requires consideration; because this means asking the worshippers, which may make them uncomfortable and cause them harm. So, his circulating among them to ask them to put some money in this box for the mosque's interests, if this is left, it would be better. Otherwise, the matter is broad. If the imam says: "The mosque is in need of your support and cooperation," there is nothing wrong with that; because this is a charitable project. But his circulating with the box among them in their rows may involve some harm, some embarrassment. So, what I see is that leaving it is preferable. It is sufficient that they know that this box is for the mosque's interests, and whoever wishes puts something in it, and whoever wishes leaves it. He should not circulate it among them or cause them harm thereby. This is the most cautious and closest to safety.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
