Ruling on Varying the Daily Portion of Qur'an Recitation
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
From the questions of the questioner from Kuwait, O Shaykh, he says: Is it permissible for my daily portion of Qur'an recitation to vary from day to day? For example, on one day I read one surah, on another day two surahs, and on another day perhaps two pages, and so on. And is it the case that if one forgets the daily portion, it is because Allah does not want to hear his voice?
Answer:
The matter in this is broad. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke to 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr, 'Abdullah was completing the recitation of the Qur'an every day. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him:. So a person reads what is easy for him. If he reads an eighth one day, and two eighths another day, and a part and a half part another day, according to what is easy for him, there is nothing fixed in this. He reads what is easy for him: a page, two pages, three, four, half a part, a full part, according to what is easy for him. But he should not neglect it. Even if he completes the recitation once a month or once every two months, there is nothing wrong with it, and praise be to Allah. Yes.
The presenter: Praise be to Allah, may Allah bless you, O Shaykh.
