Can the evil eye affect preachers and memorizers?

Question:
He asks and says: Can the evil eye strike a memorizer of the Qur'an, such that he forgets what he has memorized from the Qur'an? And can it strike one whom Allah has guided, causing him to turn back on his heels? For three of my brothers have turned to the world after they were among the pioneers of the da'wah, and the fourth is in between, and I fear for myself that I will follow them?

Answer:
The Shaykh: Seek help from Allah, and leave these whispers behind you, and ask your Lord for steadfastness upon the truth, and be glad of good if Allah wills. The evil eye is a reality, and it strikes many things. If anything had preceded the divine decree, the evil eye would have preceded it. But do not be concerned with these whispers; leave these whispers behind you, and ask your Lord for guidance and success. Gird yourself for the pursuit of the truth, keep the company of the righteous, be glad of good, and leave behind the whispers of Satan.
