The Meaning of "Indeed, Allah has angels who travel..." in the Hadith

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
It is reported in a hadith that Allah has traveling angels who move through the earth, surrounding the groups of people who remember Allah. It is said that some of the Sufis use this hadith as evidence for some of their practices. How do we respond to them?

Answer:
This hadith is authentic:
Indeed, Allah has traveling angels who seek out gatherings of dhikr. When they find them, they call out: "Come to your needs!" Then they surround them up to the canopy of the sky.إنَّ لله ملائكةً سيَّاحين، يلتمسون مجالسَ الذكر، فإذا وجدوها تنادوا: هلموا إلى حاجاتكم، فيحفّونهم إلى عنان السماء
, and they hear their dhikr and their good deeds from them. Then, when they ascend, Allah asks them what they found—He is the All-Knowing —and they inform Him of what they witnessed.
This is not a proof for the Sufis. The Sufis are innovators. They must adhere to the Shari'ah and be upright upon it. If they remember Allah as Muslims remember Allah, that is good. However, the presence of angels with those who remember Allah is not a proof for the Sufis in their invention of religious innovations for which Allah has sent no authority, or acts of worship that Allah has not prescribed, or acts of worship for the people of graves and those in graves, or the like of the false paths they have invented. The angels attend gatherings of dhikr and gatherings of knowledge, and they benefit from them.
There are other angels who convey to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the salutations and peace upon him, peace and blessings be upon him. In another hadith:
Indeed, Allah has traveling angels who convey to me the salutations and peace of my Ummah.إنَّ لله ملائكةً سيَّاحين يُبلغوني عن أمتي الصلاة والسلام
peace and blessings be upon him. And Allah has angels who follow gatherings of dhikr, hear gatherings of dhikr, and surround them.
