What was the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) practice in standing in night prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) practice in standing in night prayer was like what Dawud (peace be upon him) did?

Answer:
Aisha said: The last of his (peace and blessings be upon him) practice was to pray at the end of the night. His practice ended with prayer at the end of the night. He prayed from the beginning, the middle, and the end of the night, and his witr prayer ended at the end of the night. His witr became [prayed] during the divine descent in the last third.
Q: Is it better for us to do as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did?
A: Yes, the last third, if it is feasible, is one-sixth as Dawud did, and one-sixth of the last third.
Q: If one stands in prayer at the end of the night, is it recommended for him to sleep before Fajr?
A: If it is feasible and he sees the benefit in it, like what Dawud did, if he performs tahajjud in the fourth and fifth sixths, and sleeps in the sixth sixth, so that he may be strong for the work of the day, there is no harm; provided he does not fear that he will sleep through Fajr.
