The ruling on kissing the Black Stone and prostrating on it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What has been narrated regarding kissing the Black Stone and prostrating on it?

Answer:
There is a hadith from Ibn Abbas in this regard, meaning he placed his forehead on it. There is no harm in that. What is preserved from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is that he kissed it and touched it. However, Ibn Abbas also mentioned that he prostrated on it, and there is a difference in his narration; it was reported as mawquf (stopping at a Companion) and marfu' (traced to the Prophet). The matter is broad, and what is preserved is only touching and kissing it. As for prostration, it is a matter of scholarly disagreement.
