Ruling on preferring a person who commits sins over a person who is committed to obedience

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Sometimes there is a discussion among some of the brothers: for example, one says, "So-and-so is better than the committed So-and-so," for instance, is this one—shaved—meaning: better than the person who is committed to obedience?

Answer:
One should be careful in such matters, for preferring one over the other is serious; if one knows what indicates his preference, that is another matter, but one must be certain in matters. If one displays the deeds of Islam and the other displays sins, it is not said that he is better than him, nor is it said that the one who displays sins is better. One must be certain in the matter, so the one who displays Islam and safety from sins is the better one.
