Is the condemnation of extravagance understood from the hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): “A man is rewarded for all his spending except for a jar of dirt”?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : If you permit me, regarding the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
A person will be rewarded for all his spending, except for (what he spends) on dust أنَّ الرجل يُؤجر في نفقته كلها إلا في جرَّة تراب
Sunan Ibn Majah 4163Hasan (Darussalam)
Is the condemnation of extravagance understood from this? Does the person, I mean, build or do things around this according to his need?

The Shaykh : ... If he builds according to his need, the hadith does not include him, and if he exceeds, he has been extravagant, so he is not rewarded for it, naturally.

The questioner : And is he rewarded for his need?

The Shaykh : Yes, if he intends the quantity.

The questioner : Yes.
