One who is killed in the path of combating narcotics is a martyr
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: There is no doubt that the Anti-Narcotics Administration strives hard to block the channels through which these poisons, namely narcotics, infiltrate this pure land. The distributors of these poisons have been active, but with the help of Allah, and then through the strength and determination of the anti-narcotics officers, the efforts of those distributors have been paralyzed. My question to you, Your Eminence, is: Is a person considered a martyr if an anti-narcotics officer is killed while raiding the dens of drug users and their distributors? And what is the ruling on one who provides information that helps the anti-narcotics officers reach those dens? Please give us a ruling, and may Allah reward you.
A: There is no doubt that combating intoxicants and narcotics is among the greatest jihad in the path of Allah, and among the most important obligations is the cooperation of the members of society in combating this; because combating it is in the interest of everyone; and because its spread and prevalence are harmful to everyone. And whoever is killed in the path of combating this evil, and his intention is good, is among the martyrs. And whoever helps to expose these dens and point them out to the authorities is rewarded, and by that he is considered a mujahid in the path of truth, in the interest of the Muslims, and in protecting their society from what harms them. So we ask Allah to guide those distributors of this affliction, and to return them to their right mind, and to protect them from the evils of their own selves and the schemes of their enemy, Satan. And we ask Allah to grant success to those who combat them in hitting the truth, and to help them in performing their duty, and to guide their steps, and to make them victorious over the party of Satan. Indeed, He is the best of those asked.
