What is the ruling on working in drug control?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I am a sharp man, praise be to Allah, and I usually become aware of those who distribute narcotics. However, after some of my colleagues learned that I uncover this evil practice, they treated me poorly in their gaze: that I am a spy, or that I am a suspicious person, or something else. I am paid rewards from leave and money. Does this work of mine contradict modesty or the Shari'ah?

Answer:
This falls under the category of cooperating in righteousness and piety, and cooperating in good. A person who takes care of those involved with narcotics and intoxicants, and those who harm people, by removing what they consume and spread among the people; this is cooperating in righteousness and piety, and fighting the people of evil. So he has no blame in that if he reports on those who sell, import, or distribute narcotics; because this harms people greatly. The one who helps in removing it, eradicating it, and preventing this affliction is rewarded, even if some people dislike it, or if some people treat him poorly; because he is one who strives to reform the Muslim community and save it from this great disease and severe evil.
