Oppressing domestic workers is forbidden

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: To what extent is obedience to one's parents required? Is it obligatory in all circumstances? Is it forbidden to have a Buddhist maid in the house, or not? Especially if it is at the mother's request. Is it permissible to disobey the mother in this case? And is it permissible for me to harm the maid until she gets tired and asks to return to her country? Guide us, may Allah reward you.
M. S. - Riyadh.

A: It is obligatory for a son to be dutiful to his parents, to treat them with kindness, and to obey them in what is right; for Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) commanded this in His Noble Book in many verses, and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) also commanded dutifulness to parents and made undutifulness to them one of the greatest of major sins.
However, obedience to them, or to anyone else, in disobedience to Allah is not permissible, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Obedience is in matters which are good and universally recognized.إنما الطاعة في المعروف
Sunan Abi Dawud 2625Sahih (Al-Albani)
, and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
A creature is not to be obeyed when it involves disobedience to the "Creator.”لا طاعة للمخلوق في معصية الخالق
Mishkat al-Masabih 3696
.
As for employing non-Muslim maids, whether they are Buddhists, Christians, or others of the types of disbelievers, this is not permissible in this Peninsula, meaning the Arabian Peninsula; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited that and advised to expel the disbelievers from this Peninsula; because it is the cradle of Islam and the place where the sun of the Message rose, so it is not permissible for two religions to coexist in it, and it is not permissible to bring a disbeliever to it except for a dire necessity that the one in authority sees, and then he is returned to his country.
It is obligatory for you and your mother to return her to her country, and it is not permissible for you or your mother to harm her; rather, it is obligatory to treat her with kindness until she is returned to her country, because Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has forbidden oppression upon His servants, with both disbelievers and Muslims, based on his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Be on your guard against committing oppression, for oppression is a darkness on the Day of Resurrectionاتقوا الظلم؛ فإن الظلم ظلمات يوم القيامة
Sahih Muslim 2578
, and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) that He said:
O My servants, I have forbidden oppression for Myself and have made it forbidden amongst you, so do not oppress one another.يا عبادي! إني حرمت الظلم على نفسي وجعلته بينكم محرما؛ فلا تظالموا
Sahih Muslim 2577a
May Allah guide them all.
