Why did Islam forbid a person from taking revenge on the killer of his relative?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: This is a message from Sudan. It says: Why did Islam forbid a person from taking revenge on his killer or the killer of his relative? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.

A: Islam, which Allah legislated, prescribes retaliation (qisas) against the killer. This means that if a person kills another without right, the heirs have the right to demand retaliation from the killer, provided the conditions recognized by the Shari'ah are met and it is carried out through the authorities. The heirs may also pardon the retaliation and accept blood money (diyah) if they are of age and sound mind. They may also pardon both the retaliation and the blood money. This is based on the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) :
And there is for you in legal retribution [saving of] life, O you [people] of understanding, that you may become righteous.وَلَكُمْ فِي الْقِصَاصِ حَيَاةٌ يَا أُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
[al-Baqarah: 179], and the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever is killed in a killing, his family has a choice between two options: either they execute the killer, or they accept the blood money.من قتل في قتيل فأهله بين خيرتين إما أن يقتلوا وإما أن يأخذوا الدية
, and the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) :
And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allah. Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers.
[al-Shura: 40].
As for one person transgressing against another, or one against another, by means other than the Shari'ah methods, that is not permissible. This is because it leads to corruption, fitnah, and the shedding of blood without right. Retaliation is only sought through the Shari'ah methods, with the conditions recognized by the Shari'ah.
