The benefits of hastening to perform Hajj for the one who is able

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This is a message received by the program from the listener: Abdul Rahman Mawla Bukhs from Pakistan. He says: What are the benefits that return to the Muslim if he performs the obligatory Hajj? And if he delays performing his obligation for some excuse, and death overtakes him, what is the ruling in that case? Is it permissible for any of his relatives to perform the obligation on his behalf in the event of his death? Please inform us, may Allah reward you?
Answer: The great benefit for the one who performs Hajj is that if he performs it in the prescribed manner, it becomes one of the causes of his entering Paradise and his salvation from the Fire, and one of the causes of the expiation of his sins, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith:
Whoever performs Hajj for Allah's pleasure and does not have sexual relations with his wife, and does not do evil or sins then he will return (after Hajj free from all sins) as if he were born anew.من حج لله فلم يرفث ولم يفسق رجع كيوم ولدته أمه
Sahih al-Bukhari 1521
meaning: he returned having been forgiven. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
An Umra is an expiation for the sins committed between it and the next, and Hajj which is accepted will receive no other reward than Paradise.العمرة إلى العمرة كفارة لما بينهما، والحج المبرور ليس له جزاء إلا الجنة
Sahih Muslim 1349a
This is a great favor and a large benefit, along with what is in Hajj of visiting the sacred places and worshipping in them, ... the Noble Sanctuary, for prayer in it is multiplied, and likewise in the Prophet’s Mosque. If he visits the Prophet’s Mosque and prays in it, the prayer is multiplied and there is a great reward in it. Likewise, meeting his brothers in it is also a benefit, meeting his Muslim brothers and getting to know their conditions, and meeting his acquaintances in Hajj, and provisioning himself with the benefits and advice they have. Likewise, attending the circles of knowledge in the Sacred Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, and listening to the scholars and their sermons. All of these are great benefits for the pilgrim. And if he delays Hajj for a legitimate religious excuse, such as illness, and then dies without having performed Hajj, Hajj became obligatory upon him because he was able to perform Hajj. So it is performed on his behalf from his estate, if he was able in his lifetime and had money with which he could perform Hajj, but he delayed for some excuses. So it is performed on his behalf from his money. The heirs take out from his money something to give to a trustworthy, good person to perform Hajj on his behalf. And if some of his relatives, or some of his loved ones, perform it on his behalf as a voluntary act without using his money, that suffices and is enough. And it is not permissible for the believer to delay Hajj while he is able. Rather, he must hasten to perform Hajj when he is able and rush to Hajj before something befalls him. For this reason, it was narrated from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Hasten to perform Hajj—meaning: the obligatory one—for one of you does not know what may befall him.تعجلوا الحج -يعني: الفريضة- فإن أحدكم لا يدري ما يعرض له
Sunan al-Bayhaqi 4:83
.
So the believer hastens and rushes to Hajj, if he is able in his body and his wealth. But if he is not able to do that, he is excused from the perspective of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) ; because Allah said:
And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House - for whoever is able to find thereto a wayوَلِلَّهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ حِجُّ الْبَيْتِ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلًا
[Al-Imran: 97].
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
