Fatwa No. ( 11133 )
Q: Is it permissible for me to postpone performing the obligatory Hajj to another year or two, given that I have met the condition of ability, in order to visit my family and my wife, whom I will be away from for two years if I perform the obligatory Hajj this year? The rituals will fall during the summer vacation, and it will not be possible for me to perform Hajj and visit my family together. So, either I perform Hajj or I visit my family and postpone the Hajj. Please give us your ruling, and may Allah reward you with every good.
A: It is obligatory for the Muslim to hasten to perform the obligatory Hajj as soon as he is able, because he does not know what may happen to him if he delays it. And Allah the Exalted said:[Ali 'Imran 3:97] And it was narrated from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: It was recorded by Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
