Books Recommended for the Caller to Allah
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
May Allah reward you. Are there specific books that His Eminence Shaykh Abdul Aziz recommends to anyone who wishes to work in the field of calling people to Allah?
Answer: Yes, yes, the greatest and most noble book is the Book of Allah. So I advise every caller to Allah, every one who enjoins good and forbids evil, and every teacher, instructor, and guide to pay attention to the Qur'an, to focus on reading it, reflecting on its meanings, and doing so frequently. It is the source of all good, the teacher, and the guide to goodness, as He (Glorified and Exalted is He) said: : [Al-Isra: 9]. It guides by Allah's guidance to the straightest path and the way of success. So the most beneficial, best, noblest, and highest book is the Book of Allah. It is obligatory for callers, those who enjoin good and forbid evil, and teachers to focus on this great book and to strive to read it frequently and reflect on its meanings. By doing so, they will gain great benefit and become qualified for calling and teaching, with the success of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) .
Then I advise regarding the Sunnah: one should care for the Sunnah and the hadiths that came in this chapter. One should review the books of hadith and what people have compiled in that regard, so that one benefits from Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-Iman, Kitab al-Ilm, Riyad al-Salihin, and what has been compiled in that area. Also Kitab Bulugh al-Maram, 'Umdat al-Hadith, Jami' al-'Ulum wa al-Fadl, likewise Kitab Ibn 'Abd al-Barr Jami' al-'Ilm wa al-Fadl, and Kitab Jami' al-'Ulum wa al-Hukm by Ibn Rajab. These books and their like provide great benefit. Likewise, what Ibn al-Qayyim mentioned in Zad al-Ma'ad, I'lam al-Muwaqqi'in, Tariq al-Hijratayn, and al-Turuq al-Hukmiyyah; he mentioned a great deal in these books about calling to Allah and about enjoining good and forbidding evil.
So the believer should benefit from them, because they are great books by imams and scholars who hold a high rank in this path, with sound creed and with many experiences. Likewise, what Abu al-Abbas Ibn Taymiyyah wrote in al-Siyasah al-Shar'iyyah, Kitab al-Hisbah, al-Fatawa, and Minhaj al-Sunnah. He is among the great imams who experienced this matter, focused on it, were tested by it greatly, endured it greatly, were diligent in calling, and were patient with its harm. They were tested by many opponents, and Allah helped them to rein them in, to clarify the truth to them, and to remove the doubts they held.
So we advise every caller, every teacher, every guide, and every one who enjoins good and forbids evil to care for these beneficial books after caring for the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Also, al-Siyasah al-Shar'iyyah; looking into it is also a great good, by Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him). Likewise, the books compiled in this chapter from the other schools of jurisprudence: the Maliki, Shafi'i, and Hanafi schools, and what has also been compiled in the Hanbali school other than by Ibn al-Qayyim and Ibn Taymiyyah.
The point is that one should seek help from the books of the scholars that were compiled in this chapter, because they guide one to what one may not know, along with one's care for the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Yes.
The presenter: So the path of calling to Allah is a specific path and requires a specific provision?
The Shaykh: Yes, this is necessary.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
The Shaykh: A provision is necessary: [Al-Baqarah: 197]. And learning and understanding are part of taqwa. Yes.

And take provisions, but indeed, the best provision is fear of Allah
