What Invalidates a Person's Prayer by Passing in Front of Him

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: He also asks and says: We have heard from you that if a dog, a donkey, or a woman passes in front of the one praying, the prayer is invalidated. What is the distance at which these things pass? And if this woman is one of the mahram (close relatives), does the prayer also become invalid? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
The Shaykh: It is established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
In case there is not before him (an object) like the back of a saddle, a Muslim's Salat (prayer) would be cut off by (the passing of) a woman, a donkey and a black dogيقطع صلاة المرء المسلم إذا لم يكن بين يديه مثل مؤخرة الرحل: المرأة، والحمار، والكلب الأسود
Bulugh al-Maram 2:98
And it came in another hadith:
The menstruating womanالمرأة الحائض
meaning: the adult woman. So if any of these three is in front of him, close to him, within three cubits or less, then it invalidates the prayer. But if it is far away, more than three cubits, then it does not invalidate it. As for if he has a sutrah (barrier), such as the back of a saddle, like a chair, like a wall, or like a pillar, if any of these three passes between him and the sutrah, then it invalidates his prayer. But if it is behind the sutrah, then it does not invalidate his prayer. Meaning: it invalidates it. This is the meaning of "invalidating" it, meaning: it invalidates it. As for other than these three, such as a man, a dog that is not black, and other animals, they do not invalidate the prayer, nor do they make it invalid. But it is not permissible for them to pass, meaning: the one praying should strive to prevent passing in front of him absolutely, even other than these three. But what invalidates the prayer and makes it invalid is only these three: the adult woman, the donkey, and the black dog. These three are the ones that invalidate the prayer. As for other than them, it is not permissible for them to pass, but they do not invalidate the prayer, such as a dog that is not black, or the passing of a man, or the passing of a she-camel, for example, or something similar. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
